The man accused over the brutal murder of a 15-year-old boy in Satapuala has been released on bail.

Bail for Va’alagoa Kamilo Faumuina was granted by Supreme Court Justice, Leiataualesa Darryl Clarke.

The Attorney General’s Office did not object to bail.

Va’alagoa is charged with murder and in a separate matter also faces drug charges, also pending before the Supreme Court.

The young boy, identified as Uili Uili, went missing for several days and was found dead in a farm in the village in January 2018.

The matter is now scheduled for trial on 13 August, 2018.

During the criminal mention, Va’alagoa entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him through his lawyer Tauiliili Harry Schuster.

Va’alagoa has been released on bail on strict orders that he must adhere to the conditions set out by the Court.

Justice Leiataualesa ordered the defendant to surrender his travel documents, sign in twice a week at the Faleata Police Station and that he must remain in Vaitele.

This means he cannot go to Satapuala at any time. He is also not allowed to contact prosecution witnesses directly or indirectly.
