The challenges life brings us make us stronger.

That’s what Tuitumua, a 64-year-old mother and grandmother from Faleula, believes.

Looking at what’s happening today, the mother of four is particularly concerned about the increasing cost of living.

She said many families are struggling to keep up.

“Back in the days, we usually buy most of the goods for twenty sene, but as you can see nowadays that’s not the case anymore,” she said.

“People are buying on credit every day to survive and to take care of their children.”

But hard work and never giving up is the key to staying strong.

“We have to accept it, we all know that in our everyday life we are facing various types of challenges and we can’t get away from it.

“It seems as if every minute welcomes a new challenge to our life.”

She said in every challenge there was always an opportunity and solution.

“Life is full of challenges and it is building day by day.

“If we see carefully and take everything to consideration, the challenges that we face makes us stronger.

“Like, if we think that the cost of living is too much and we love our children so much, we have to push them far in education.”

She believes that as the challenges pile up, “so does our strength”.

“We all know that we start facing challenges right from the moment we come to the world and challenges keep coming to us until we breathe our last.

“The only time we rest is when heaven calls us, so we have to work hard and use every opportunity and talent that God gives us.”

How is life in the village for Molimau?

She said “village life is awesome.

“In our village, everyone lives in beautiful and natural surroundings; there is land to work on to provide food and to take care of our family and church.

“We live together as one family; we share our views together for the good of others, especially the future of our children.”
