Re: Govt. in control of airline finances
As is the case the world over, airlines are generally the domain of private enterprise.
The same should apply in Samoa.
Let private enterprise run these companies.
The only outcome that is certain with Samoa Airways is that it will lose money, a lot of money and this is why the Government will not reveal financial details, but we already know the answer to this question.
A simple few calculations will give you a rough idea of the gross profit or loss and my own rough calculations are that Samoa Airways is making an operational loss of around $120,000 tala or more each week which is kind of normal, but this of course ignores the capital debts that the airline owes ($12 million tala loan earlier this year?), this is a whole separate issue on top of the operating loss.
This can only end badly for the poor old tax payers.
