Taking advantage of his trip to New Zeeland while following the Lions tour, Connor Nolan, of Ireland seized the opportunity to visit beautiful Samoa.
“I was in New Zealand already and decided to come and see Samoa,” said the 22-year-old.
Visiting the island is often a once in a life time opportunity, with the price of flights ever increasing.
Connor was enthusiastic about his short stay and eager to experience as much of the culture as possible.
While enjoying the traditional religious celebrations at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mulivai, he took the time to tell us about his experiences so far.
Having flown all the way from Ireland, Connor said he had brought pre-conceptions about the cost of living, and was under the impression that Samoan life may be quite expensive, particularly for a tourist.
“I had heard that it’s beautiful, but sadly a very expensive place to stay, and this is why people choose to visit the other islands,” he said.
Upon his arrival and visits to the local markets, he was shocked at the low prices.
He said he would definitely recommend Samoa to his friends back at home, dispelling rumours that the island is only for the wealthy.
“Samoa is perfect for relaxation and fine weather,” he said, adding that it is a place with an abundance of friendly people and fantastic food.
All great qualities that will ensure his return to Samoa in the future.
Standing outside the beautiful architecture of the Church, Connor was fascinated with the local culture and all it has to offer.
Battling with the heat, he set off in search of one of Samoa’s local markets, to try the vast array of fruit grown here on the island.
This destination, he assured, is already a winner.
