An educational discussion

Dear Editor,

My husband suggested to me in our discussions of the election that this monotaga issue is being misused in law by those who passed the law in a parliamentary system.

It is a way to manipulate people who understand the matai system.

He suggested the two are incompatible but the government uses it to hang on to power by manipulating people who understand the matai system.

I try to respect the culture and traditions of my second home, Samoa, but I just can’t wrap my head around this idea of banishing someone from their home.

It’s so medieval. Anyway life goes on but the discussions about the election were so educational and exciting for me.

I will miss them. Discussions to resume in five years.
