Traffic lights along the new Vaitele road opposite both the Vailima breweries and Farmer Joe have officially been switched on.

Taua’aletoa Rudolf Ott oversaw the procedure with members of Traffic Systems Ltd (T.S.L) New Zealand making sure everything went smoothly yesterday morning.

Taua’aletoa told Samoa Observer during an interview that this was all for safety reasons. “We are months away from finishing up the full road but we want to turn on these lights for the safety of our public,” he said.

“We have had a couple of accidents in these areas the past 3 weeks so we feel it is necessary to turn these lights on early.

“We are doing all of this because people’s well being and safety is our utmost concern.” According to Taua’aletoa they got the okay from L.T.A to turn on the lights.
