Following the public outcry about the results of the Samoa School Certificate (S.S.C.) and the Samoa Schools Leaving Certificate (S.S.L.C.), the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture issued the following statement yesterday. It is published verbatim:

“The final National Results for S.S.C. and SSLC were approved for release on Monday 30th January.

Approval was given on the knowledge that the quality checks had been done and every student’s marks and grades had been checked and re-checked for accuracy.

On Tuesday 31st January and Wednesday 1st February 2017, all results (S.P.E.C.A., S.S.C. and S.S.L.C.) were delivered to all high schools both in Upolu and Savai’i.

The official S.S.L.C. results were also delivered to the National University of Samoa.

Acceptance of recount applications continued until Wednesday 1st February.

The Results of the recounts is in progress and students will then receive their results as per completion process whilst Principals will receive a full update by the 15th February 2017.

The quality check, enabling outcomes based reporting for the alignment of students’ classroom based work (Internal Assessment - IA), was aligned and configured correctly to the System.

Every school’s I.A. report was rigorously checked for full compliance to the System.  The system’s analysis report was then checked against every student’s result slip ensuring a direct match.”
