Vailima Corporate fight night hailed a success

The Vailima Corporate Fight Night has been hailed a success with companies, businesses and taxi stands boxing it out for a night of entertainment and fun. 

It was also an opportunity for some amateur boxers to showcase their talents in hopes of representing Samoa in the upcoming Pacific Mini Games to be held in Vanuatu.

Held last week Saturday, the fight night attracted families, supporters and friends of the Samoa Boxing Association to the Tuana’imato Gymnasium 3, to cheer and support their fighters.

The tournament aimed to promote healthy living among various business houses and also a platform where people could come together to enjoy a night of boxing. 

The Fight Night started off with corporate fights including ‘The Battle between the Taxi Stands”, businesses and companies.

The fight between taxi stands kicked off with John Mataio, of Lalelei o Faleata Taxi, winning their battle against Mikaele Iosefa of Magik FM Taxi.

In the same category, Aukuso Paleso’o of Fatu o Aiga taxi stand knocked out Folau Tipeni of Freddy taxi stand in the first round.

The businesses and company fights kicked off with Advance Motors Frances Collins defeating John Smith of Joes Gym. 

Junior Silver of Graig Constructions won against Ripine Ioane of Samoa Fire department and Shon So’o of Taumeasina Island Resort prevailed over Milosi Afamasaga of Saletoga Beach Fales.

Vailima Breweries Filemoni Pelenato also defeated Puleaga Iakopo of Samoa Fire department, while Fetalaiga Iulio of Taumeasina lost against Suitama Motupu’a of Ligaliga Funerals in a unanimous decision.

The final of the Taxi Stand fight saw John Mataio of Lalelei o Faleata taking on Aukuso Paleso’o of Fatu o Aiga Taxi Stand. 

Aukuso Paleso’o won the trophy donated by I.P.A. Isikuki and a prizemoney of $500. 

The last fight in the corporate fights saw John Ah Kuoi of Hyundai defeating Finau Finau of Island Rock.

The Amateur Bouts consisted of six fights. 

Few Fighters from abroad competed in the event trialing out for a chance to represent Samoa in the upcoming Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu.

60kg Lightweight Nuuuli Mose of the Upolu Savaii ring defeated Ioane Ioane of Tumua ma Pule, while 64kg Light welter Valentin Kondakav all the way from Russia, defeated Manila Hall of Samoa.

In the 75kg middle weight, Ropati Hall Su’a of Samoa defeated Michael Mika Leota from Australia, while Ato Leau Polidzki Faoagali from Australia defeated Henry Tyrell of Samoa in the 81kg Light Heavy Weight clash.

John Peneueta of Marist defeated Petelo Matagi of Plantation Boxing in the 91kg Heavy Weight, while Faamanu Aukuso defeated Ishmael Liaina from Australia in the 91+kg Super Weight class.
