Stall owners back in business

Vatapuia Maiava asked stall owners at the temporary flea market if they were happy with the temporary market and how they feel about the plans for a 15 storey building to be built on that site. Here are their responses:

This is very nice. Although it is just tents this is a very nice way of allowing the people who lost a lot in the fire to get back on their feet. I like how fast they put this temporary market together because when the fire took away the old market, it left many people without any place to sell their goods but now they can start selling again. In regards to the 15 storey building, I don’t want to go against the government but as long as there is a place for us to go and continue with business then I’ll be fine with that.

I am very happy and thankful to the government for putting this up so quickly. Even though this isn’t a solid building I’m still grateful for the opportunity to start this stall up again and it gives many of us the chance to take our kids to back school. It’s up to the government to run their project here but it would be nice if they also came up with a place to move the flea market.

I like how open it is here now because people can all see inside and it is easier to display our product. I actually prefer this set up to the last because it is nice and windy unlike the old hot flea market. It is completely up to the government on what they want to do to this area; if they want us to move then we will move. But right now I really love how it is here.

This is a very nice temporary market. I just started and my stall isn’t complete yet but I really like it here now. I really want to say thank you to the government for your love towards the people here at the flea market and how fast you came up with a solution to the incident that happened here. I am grateful for this kind gesture by the government but they should take that 15 storey building anywhere else but here; the flea market belongs in this area. There won’t be any money generated from that building but there is always money to be made in this location for we stall owners.

I just want to thank the Lord for the opportunity given to us.. This is very good because it gives us the opportunity to earn money to take our children to school and to help our families. But I want to return all the thanks to Jesus for all of this. I heard about how the government wishes to move all the ministries into one place in this 15 storey building but just as long as we are given another area to sell our products, then everything should be fine.

I for one, am really happy with what the government has done for us. This is a very good way to get everyone back on track with their lives. People can start earning money again for the schools that just started up and tourists can come to buy souvenirs again. I’m really grateful that the temporary market went up quickly and I prefer this over the old market. I don’t know if the 15 storey building is a good thing or a bad thing but I’m just happy with the opportunity to sell again.
