Transparency and accountability

Dear Editor,

Re: P.M. downplays criticisms

Government corruption hurts more people in Samoa. Think of the many lives that could have been saved if millions of dollars lost through government corruption could have been used in the health sector.

Families that are still drinking out of streams could have proper running water, how about electricity to all families.

This interview by the government gazette needs to happen, it’s just PR b******t to help offset his vile attack on “lawyer/s” which could potentially destabilize a nation also.

Hitler would be very proud on how he’s manipulating time and space.

The country is still relying heavily on Remittance, Foreign Aid and loans to stay relevant in this modern world. Which means he and H.R.P.P. have not improved or deliver economic prosperity to the nation.

The next generation will inherit a massive foreign debt so Samoa will still be suffering the consequences of his actions long after his gone.

We’ve lost a massive junk of foreign aid this year when E.U. withdrew it’s support because of the government dabbling in money laundering and I fear the noose will get tighter if other international donors follow suit and it will happen.

Hard questions need to be asked on why he’s refusing to conform to international standards when it comes to offshore finances.

What is he trying to hide or protect?

If his government adheres to good governance, transparency and accountability, then why is he allowing the country to endure more suffering?

If the country is benefiting from money laundering (legally) how much money is Samoa getting from it?

GOOD GOVERNANCE, TRANSPARENCY and ACCOUNTABILITY.

Yazaki is history, foreign aid is diminishing, Samoa Air is sucking up cash like a vacuum cleaner, servicing foreign loans drain the coffer as well so Samoa will still be poor and the blame will always fall on H.R.P.P. and it’s leadership.
