4 killed in riot at Honduran soccer game buried
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras (AP) — Four men killed in a fight between fans of the rival Honduran soccer teams Motagua and Olimpia have been buried in the capital.
Grieving relatives of victim Baquedano Méndez said the fight wasn't worth it. Méndez was a fan of the Motagua team, killed in the Saturday evening brawl.
But die-hard fans known as the Revolucionarios de Motagua, or "Revo," also attended his funeral in the Villa Nueva neighborhood on the outskirts of Tegucigalpa.
Wearing the Motagua team's dark blue shirts, his fellow fans drank and smoked marijuana outside the funeral.
They sang "When I die, paint my coffin dark blue, like my heart."
Fans of Motagua and Olimpia have engaged in deadly clashes in the past.
