The talk is over.  Boxers of the third Fight for Marist International Corporate and Amateurs Fights 2018 are ready to rumble.

It follows the weigh in yesterday morning at the Samoa Stationery and Books at Togafu’afu’a.

Tournament Director, Tavu’i Mike Lemisio, said the main aim of the tournament was to create a platform to develop amateur boxing in Samoa.

“The main aim of the Fight for Marist International is to create a platform to develop amateur boxing for Samoa to continue working as partnerships with Samoa Boxing Association.”

“It also aims to invite Samoan boxers outside of Samoa to go up against our local boxers here to help with the selection of our national teams, as well as exposing our local boxers to fight the level overseas boxers are in.”

Fight for Marist Corporate Fights for 2018 are divided into five battles.

The Battle of Taxi Stands, which will have two bouts, the Battle of Power Suppliers Company, Battle of Fitness Gymnasium, the Battle of Minds and the Main Corporate Fight of the Bigger and the Biggest bout.

Fight for Marist Amateur Fight has also been divided into two divisions of Youth and Elite divisions.

Youth division comprises local amateur boxers from local clubs, while Elite divisions are hosting Samoan boxers currently living in Australia and New Zealand hoping to represent Samoa in Boxing.

The winner of last year’s Fight for Marist Amateur Fights Youth Division, Ato Ploelzicki-Faoagali, from Australia, who won Samoa a bronze medal at the Youth Commonwealth Games, is a fighter to watch for tonight’s occasion.

Fight for Marist International Corporate and Amateur Fight Night will take place tonight at Gym 3 Tuana’imato and gates will open at 5:30pm.
