Lupesoliai Joseph Parker could face another top Samoan heavyweight, Alex Lionheart Leapai.

Lupesoliai is currently without an opponent for his fight in Providence, Rhode Island, United States of America on June 30th (Samoan time).

His Manager, Segiali'i David Higgins, told Stuff that he will no longer be fighting American Molina on the undercard of the W.B.O. World Middleweight title fight between Demetrius Andrade and Maciej Sulecki.

Higgin’s Duco Boxing had announced Molina as Parker’s opponent for the first fight of his new deal with promoter Matchroom Boxing, however no deal had been signed.

Higgins told Stuff he is confident they will have an opponent for Lupesoliai come June 30th.

"We're at the stage now where no one is contracted yet but we hope to have someone contracted within 24 hours.

"It's looking like [Samoan-Australian Alex] Leapai is rising to the top as the frontrunner but there are other names around."

Leapai (32-7-4) would appear to be a step backwards from Molina as an opponent for Lupesoliai as he attempts to return to the top of the heavyweight division.

Leapai, 39, was born in Lauli’i but grew up in New Zealand and Australia.

He worked his way up to a title fight against Wladimir Klitschko in 2014, but lost that and his next two bouts before retiring from boxing for a time.

Leapai returned to the ring for bouts against Thomas Peato and Roger Izonritei in 2017 and 2018.
