JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Springboks prop Julian Redelinghuys is recovering after dislocating his neck in a game.

The South Africa international underwent surgery Sunday after he was injured in his Lions team's loss to the Cheetahs in the Currie Cup semifinals on Saturday.

The Johannesburg-based Lions say Redelinghuys remains in the hospital in the central city of Bloemfontein, where the game was played, but is expected to make a full recovery and return home this week.

Redelinghuys was stretchered off after a collision early in the second half, and Lions medical staff said he experienced "minimal temporary weakness of his left arm" because of the neck injury.

Redelinghuys had surgery to fuse dislocated vertebrae in his neck back together again. The front-rower is expected to be able to play again.
