The Manu Samoa Sevens bad run of form continues.

This time, at the biggest Sevens tournament of the year, the Hong Kong Sevens.

A red card while trailing against a classy outfit like New Zealand does not help.

The team lost, 19-12, basically closing the door on any chance they had of making the Cup playoffs.

Sir Gordon Tietjens men also lost their first game against Fiji 31-12.

Manu Samoa Sevens points came from two tries from Jacob Whitaker Ale and Tom Iosefo, and one successful conversion by Captain Alatasi Tupou.

The Men in Blue went into their second game against New Zealand with Quarterfinal hopes still alive, but were very unlucky in the end.

New Zealand was the first to get points when big winger Joseva Ravouvou crossed over for their first try.

Samoa answered back when Foma’i Neria made a break to send Tom Iosefo under the post. Alatasi Tupou converted to tie up the game.

New Zealand bounced back scoring two tries from Isaac Te Tamaki, and Luke Masireva, giving them an healthy lead with three more minutes to go.

But a red card to Tila Mealoi was the last thing Samoa needed. With a man down, they tried valiantly but no success.

They had one last chance to win the game but the player knock on inches from the try line.

Manu Samoa was scheduled to take on Russia for their final match. The result was not available at press time.
