Samoa winless in Paris

Samoa has gone from winning the Paris Sevens a couple of years ago to being winless on Day 1 of the tournament.

It is the last leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series where everyone had been hoping for a miracle finish from the boys in blue.

Samoa started well against Fiji, managing to stay competitive with their more fancied opponents in the first spell where they trailed, 12-14 at the break.

But that was as close as they got.

In the second half, Fiji brought out their champagne rugby and blew Samoa off the park with the final score of 12-35.

It was always going to be a tough pool for Samoa.

And it proved just that against New Zealand.

Samoa tried valiantly but New Zealand hung on for a 22-17 win.

Against Kenya, Samoa lost 24-10.

They are now poised to play France in the Challenge Trophy when the tournament resumes.
