Schools Sevens shows promise

Promising talents were displayed on Friday during the Bluesky National Schools Sevens Champions from both girls and boys teams that participated.

Leulumoega Fou College won both the Under-18 boys and girls division, while Samoa College went home topping the Under-16 boys division.

St Joseph’s College was the runner up for both the Under-16 and Under-18 boys division.

The teams unlucky enough to make the Cup final contest went on and contested for the Plate and the Bowl trophies.

Church College of Pesega won the Under-16 boys division Bowl trophy defeating Palauli College from Savai’i 14-5 at fulltime.

Aleipata College, which topped the Zone A Under-16 competition a week ago, took home the Plate trophy for the Under-16 boys division defeating Aana No.2 College 21-15 at fulltime.

The Most Valuable player of the Under-16 boys division was awarded to Phillip Pesaleli of Samoa College.

For the Under-18 boys’ division competition, favorites, Avele College, Vaiola College and Maluafou College did not make the Cup final.

The last ranked seed from the four pools of teams that competed contested for the Shield trophy in the Under-18 division. Chanel College won the Shield trophy after defeating Lepa and Lotofaga College 19-14 during the shield semi-final, and Pesega College in the final 19-5 at fulltime.

The third ranked teams from each pool in the Under-18 boys division contested for the Bowl trophy playoffs, where Vaiola College, from Savai’i, defeated Anoama’a College 10-7.

Avele College scooped the Plate trophy after winning against Safata College in the Plate final match 17-7 at fulltime.

The teams that competed for the Plate trophy were the second ranked seeds teams from each Pool of teams that competed.

Leulumoega Fou College captain, Reupena Sevealii, won the Most Valuable Player award for the Under-18 boys division.
