SYDNEY (AP) — Melbourne Storm halfback Cooper Cronk and North Queensland Cowboys backrower Jason Taumalolo shared the Dally M medal after finishing with the same number of votes for the top individual award in Australia's National Rugby League.

It's only the second time the Dally M has been shared — Johnathan Thurston and Jarryd Hayne were joint winners in 2014.

Cronk, the 2013 winner, became only the eighth multiple winner of the award, joining a list of great playmakers including Thurston, Hayne and Andrew Johns.

It was a big week for Cronk, who marked his 300th NRL game by helping Storm reach Sunday's grand final against Cronulla.

Taumalolo was the first forward to win the Dally M since Storm, Queensland and Australia captain Cameron Smith won it in 2006.

Melbourne took three of the nine positional awards on offer, with Smith voted the top hooker in the competition and Jesse Bromwich voted the leading prop.
