The management of the Toa Samoa team was quick to dispel rumours that Brisbane Broncos star, Anthony Milford, could feature for Samoa on Saturday.

Contacted for a comment yesterday, the management said the final team has already been named and Milford’s name was not on it.

Milford, who has played for Toa Samoa in the past, is among a number of senior players missing from the Toa Samoa team.

Others include Joey Leilua and Josh McGuire, all three players hoping to crack into the Australian team. They haven’t.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the three Samoan players are among a host of stars excluded from the Kangaroos.

About Milford, the newspaper says: “The Brisbane five-eighth was the best player in the competition over the opening 10 rounds, but fell off over Origin and couldn’t steer the Broncos past week two of the finals.

“Johnathan Thurston and Cooper Cronk were automatic selections in the halves, while Michael Morgan is the best bench man in the game and great injury cover in the halves and fullback. Ultimately though, Milford was left out due to the great form of James Maloney and Matt Moylan.”

Yesterday, there were rumours that Milford was to arrive in the country last night and could well take the field on Saturday.
