It was inconceivable to miss the red banners that waved the Digicel logo at the parade yesterday.

Almost everyone in the parade was rocking the red, including  Duco Events founder , Segiali’i David Higgins was sporting Digicel gear.

Not only was it a proud moment for Lupesoliai La’aulimalietoa Joseph Parker but also for Digicel who  pushed into the limelight.

Digicel has backed Lupesoliai since the beginning of his journey to the world title.  As Lupesoliai adorns many Digicel advertisements on billboards, newspaper and commercials; It was only fitting to see the company have a hand in  orchestrating the homecoming of Samoa’s son.

None was more happy than Digicel’s Interim Chief Executive Officer,  Pepe Fia’ailetoa Christian Fruean, who has developed a  close relationship with the boxing champ.  So much so that Lupesoliai  even turned to  Pepe during his siva Samoa; smiled and  gave the thumbs up.

Pepe beamed with pride as he spoke to the Samoa Observer about the amazing turnout for the homecoming of Samoa’s son.

He stated, “ Its such a special occasion for all of Samoa to celebrate a son who’s returning home who left our shores to prove himself in his sport and now he’s come back and made the whole country proud.  I think the whole country is celebrating .  I’m very happy for Joseph and his family, but especially for  Samoa.”

“It’s a wonderful turnout, like Joseph said, “He has a love for our people and I think today the people showed their love for Parker. I thank everyone for showing up in support of Joseph.”

Since the Prime Minister declared yesterday a public holiday for public servants, Digicel partnered with  the government to orchestrate a massive welcoming for Lupesoliai.

“Digicel worked together with the government.  Like all partnerships, people with likeminded who  have a positive intent to do something good work well together.  We were very happy to work with the government, especially the Samoa Tourism Authority , through the Beautiful Samoa campaign and S.I.F.A.   Great partnerships and a great event,  and we’re very happy to partner with those great organizations,” Pepe stated.
