Hard work pays off. Tuitapuono Samantha Milford reaped the sweet rewards of her hard work when the young lawyer was admitted to the bar on Friday.

The 25-year-old took her oath of admission before Chief Justice, His Honour Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu. Families and friends witnessed the special occasion.

Chief Justice Patu congratulated Tuitapuono.

“Today marks both the end and a beginning of your four years of studies at the Victoria University in New Zealand at the same time is the beginning of your career as a lawyer,” he said.

“Your admission to the bar continues the domination of the Samoan Legal Profession by female lawyers in terms of numbers.”

He also challenged her.

“What you make of yourself no longer depends on your law degree it depends on yourself,” he said.

“You will also find the four years you spent in the law school is not enough to learn or to know about the law. The law is so deep and so broad and it applies to almost every area of human activity…”

“The Legal profession is a learning profession.”

Tuitapuono’s father Auali’itia Faafouina Milford was naturally a proud man, crediting God for his love on his daughter.

As for Tuitapuono, she said she is looking forward to the future, after having realized a long time dream.

“It’s always something that I dreamt of to study law,” she said. “Without the help of my parents this would not be possible.”

“All glory and thanks to God that he’s been with me all this time.”

Tuitapuono is the 6th daughter of ten children of Auali’itia and Paisami Leafi Milford of Leauva’a and Tuanai.

She is a former student of Saint Mary’s College. She attended the National University of Samoa in 2009 where she received a scholarship to study law at Victoria University in New Zealand.
