Digicel and S.S.A.B. partner up
Digicel and Samoa Stationery and Books have signed an agreement to have Digicel products made available at all S.S.A.B. stores.
Held at the Digicel’s headquarter, the partnership will enable customers to purchase a TV set and a Digicel Play Decoder all at once at any of the S.S.A.B. stores in Upolu and Savai’i.
With every purchase, customers will have the option to sign up on a monthly subscription, either the lite plan for $49 or the premium plan for $89, which provides them with up to 25 channels.
Digicel’s Chief Executive Officer, Farid Mohammed, said the partnership is the beginning of a long-term relationship with S.S.A.B.
“We are absolutely delighted with the support that we got from Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai and her team,” he said.
“S.S.A.B. has been selling our products for a couple of weeks now and we thought ‘let’s make this relationship official and we wanted to bring in to the attention of our customers where they can now also purchase Digicel products at the S.S.A.B. outlets as well.”
“That provides Digicel and increase reached to its customers and it also gives us another partnership to work with especially when it comes to our TV products.”
“We know S.S.A.B. is by far the largest seller of TV’s in Samoa so we thought it was a great opportunity for us to partner with them so that when a customer walks in to purchase a television they can get a full package including the Digicel play subscription.”
“So that is one of the few things that will be available through S.S.A.B. going forward.”
Mr. Mohammed said the products are already available in stores.
“This is just to get the message out to our customers and those who are looking to buy TV and Digicel play services we strongly recommended that you see the great deal down at S.S.A.B. stores,” he said.
“In addition to that you can also purchase Digicel sim cards proper cards from the S.S.A.B. stores as well.”
“So this is definitely the beginning of a long term relationship, so I want to thank them for being open in all the negotiations and being very helpful in getting this partnership deal close and we definitely looking forwards to many partnership.”
President and owner of S.S.A.B. Tofilau Fiti Leung Wai said the partnership will be beneficial for customers for various reasons.
“Firstly, we’ve always tried to promote our shop as a one stop shop, convenience shopping for our customers and I believe this partnership with Digicel can achieve that purpose to some extent,” she said.
“When they come to S.S.A.B. to buy a phone they don’t have to go anywhere else to buy a sim card as the sim cards will be at available in store and they can also top up their credits there. So it’s quite an excellent deal and it is always a purpose at S.S.A.B. to try and make people come there and not go anywhere else so this partnership achieves that.”
Secondly she said it adds value to both Digicel and S.S.A.B. products.
“At the moment we have a few local channels but if they come and buy a TV set they can also be given an option to purchase a Digicel Play Decoder which can access 25 channels for viewing,” she said.
“So it really adds value to our products and we are happy about that.”
Moreover, she said the partnership enhances customer’s experience shopping at S.S.A.B. by providing them with these Digicel products.
