A programme called “Ia ola Samoa” aired on TV3 has seen some media companies combine in a bid to help combat the measles epidemic.

“There is a need to get the information out and encourage people to get vaccinated,” said President of the Journalist Association of Western Samoa, Rudy Bartley.

“It is vital that people hear firsthand the right information to combat misinformation and more importantly give people hope."

He said the local media will also be on the talk show emphasizing the importance of everyone working together to help.

According to Mr Bartley, the media companies involved have shared their equipment to assure the information is disseminated on national television and radio.

They are working out of the TV3 newsroom.

“In a massive effort to inform the Country during a nationwide curfew today and tomorrow, media outlets have teamed up at TV3 to put out an all-day bulletin,” was posted by the TV3 on their official facebook page.

Media outlets that have teamed up are WT Media, TV2, N.U.S., Talamua, E.T. Live and TV 7.

“And this is free and no cost to the Ministry of Health or the Police, our goal to get the accurate information. The live updates and coverage is available on the Play Go and on the E.F.K.S. TV and TV7."
