A record nineteen students – excluding four school leavers - have been arrested and charged as a result of inter school fighting in Apia last week.

This was confirmed by the Media Officer for the Police, Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona. The students come from St. Joseph’s College, Don Bosco and Avele College.

Maotaoalii also said that they have also charged four school leavers.

The fights occurred between 15th to the 22nd March 2016 at a bus terminal at Savalalo.

They are between the ages of 13 to 21 years of age and they will appear in the district court on the 5th April 2016.

The 23 defendants face charges of being armed with dangerous weapons, assault and throwing stones in a public place.

“Other students were involved because their cousins are from Avele or Saint Joe,” said Moataoalii.

“We don’t give any more chances to these students because it seems that they don’t care.”

Maota said some students don’t bother about being arrested nowadays.

And that’s why they are not giving any more chances.
