Newly ordained Methodist Church Minister, Reverend Nonu Tui Savai'i, is driven by a desire to save souls.

Rev. Nonu shared his views on the role of a Minister on Sunday as he became one of 13 newly ordained Methodist ministers during a church service at the Methodist Church, Faleula.

Rev. Nonu and his wife, Litia, dedicated praise and glory unto God for helping them.

Rev. Nonu recall receiving his calling from God in Asau, Savaii when his parents were also serving in the Methodist Church.

“My father being a Minister and serving the Lord was also another reason why I wanted to become just like him," he said.

"I admired the work of changing lives and preaching the word of God to everyone.

“The motivation behind my work is to change the lives of those that have lost their way or have chosen the wrong path that God wants them to make.

“It is evident nowadays not only in Samoa but the world that there are so many conflicts and troubles, my advice to our people is to be humble. In James 4:10 in the bible, it states that ‘Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.’

The 38-year-old father of three entered Piula Theological College in 2009 and graduated in 2013.

“In all honesty to be alone, I would not be able to accomplish anything but it was through the Holy Spirit’s guidance that has helped me come this far," he said.

“We have been preparing and waiting for five years but there were so many challenges that tried to hinder our journey and efforts to becoming servants of God.

“And we also hope to encourage the youths so they can make right decisions so they will have better futures instead of wasting their lives away with all sorts of temptations.”
