A man is lucky to be alive after his pick up truck flipped and landed upside down at Togitogiga on Easter Monday.

Police Spokesperson, Su’a Tiumalu confirmed the incident during an interview with the Samoa Observer yesterday.

“It was a very lucky escape,” he said.

“It could have been very serious but we are grateful that no one was killed.”

An eyewitness told the Samoa Observer that the driver was seriously injured.

“He was the only person involved because he was the driver of the crashed vehicle,” the eyewitness said.

“A police truck arrived immediately."

“Another Toyota Hilux immediately unloaded their truck and helped carry the injured man on the back of their truck bed to rush them to hospital.”

The eyewitness said alcohol is suspected.

Away from the crash, word from the Ministry of Police is that Good Friday and Easter holiday were relatively peaceful.

“Nothing major has been reported in during the long holiday except the one crash at Togitogiga on Monday,” Spokesperson Su’a Tiumalu.

“So far, it has been a peaceful holiday."

“That’s the good news for us. We are grateful for everybody’s cooperation. We believe safety is all about working together for a safer Samoa.”
