A family, who travels around the world as part of their adventure on board their own ship, has urged Samoa to do something about its dying corals.

Angela Helseth said after observing the corals in Samoa, they figured that a lot of them are dead. 

Mrs. Helseth said she is surprised that there is not much effort put into restoring the state of the corals around the island as these things will bring more tourists to Samoa.

"We travel a lot and always in the sea so we can tell the big difference between the islands," she said.

"We noticed that the corals are dead the moment we got here and it's causing less fish in the sea.

"We tried putting tuna at one of the places we anchored at and after a day, we were surprised that the tuna was still there so no fish at all. I don't know if they're over-fishing or maybe the fish was just not there or the corals are not there but I hope Samoa puts more effort in restoring the corals."

Apart from the corals, Mrs. Helseth also said Samoa should have more information about places to go in Samoa. 

Aside from that, Mrs. Helseth's two daughters, Emilia and Emma, said they have enjoyed the Samoan culture and dances.

Emma, who is keen to learn about the Samoan dances, is hopeful for an opportunity to learn about it at the Coffee Bean House that practices Samoan dances twice a week.

"We also like the people because they're so friendly and we're enjoying it," Emma said.

Emilia, who also happened to love the waterfalls, said it was a challenge for her to go to the waterfalls until she was inspired by the slogan that goes "if I can do it, you can do it".

"At first, I thought it would be very scary but I did it and I enjoyed it so much," she said. 

Mrs. Helseth said they're in Samoa with her husband and they're staying on their boat until they leave.

Mrs. Helseth was born in Columbia and raised in the United States.

Her husband is from Norway. As for her two daughters, they were born in Singapore.

Their adventure is to explore the world, learn about new cultures and animal life.
