A container of goodwill has landed in Samoa from Sydney Australia.

The container comprises of a combination of donations from good Samaritans to help the different churches, colleges, schools and communities in Samoa.

Australia-based, Tole'afoa John Nickel, the Regional General Manager Australia for Fiji Airways, said the container is timed to share the spirit of Easter with as many people as possible.

“This donation coincides with the three vital elements of the Lenten Season in our Catholic Faith: Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving,” he said.

Saint Francis Xavier Catholic Parish, Lurneqa in the Liverpool region  donated materials and resources for the Holy Family Catholic Church in Aleisa I Sasa’e, provided an altar for Fasito’o-Tai Catholic Church and chairs and desks for Lauli'i Catholic Church.

Saint Patrick’s College in Sutherland also contributed 300 school chairs, 300 desks, 30 office chairs, library books and white boards to be distributed to Saint Joseph’s College, Chanel College and Aana Junior High School.

Mr. Nickel and his wife Aniva generously donated 200 church chairs for the Holy Family Church, along with other items and contributing to freight costs.

The Sam Fayad of Dyldam Construction assisted with freight costs, while Mohammad Shameem and Racer Freight kindly supplied transport, storage and freight as well.

Tole'afoa said all this started with their simple desire to help the Church in Aleisa Sasa’e.

While this is their first container to the Samoan communities, it will not be their last, he said.

The Government Prayer House at Lalovaea will also benefit from the goods.

The President of the Catholic Holy Family in Aleisa Sasa’e, Tagaloa Uili Matafeo, expressed his gratitude towards Mr. Nickel and the fellow Samaritans.
