Residents of Faleula-uta are in a state of shock following an incident where a man was shot – and he later died at the hospital.

The young man from Faleula-uta was shot by another male during a dispute that turned ugly quite quickly.

A family member who spoke to the Samoa Observer on the condition of anonymity said the incident happened last week.  “We heard a loud bang from the house where they were drinking (alcohol) and we knew that something went wrong,” she said.

“It was late on that night.

“Not long after someone came and told our family that he was shot and he’s in a serious condition and.

“He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead a few days after.” According to the family member, they are not sure what led to the dispute.

“All I know is that alcohol was involved and there was an argument between the two men. I was told that they were intoxicated and one man just used a gun on the other.

“I am pretty sure they were really drunk.”

Police Media Officer, Maotaoali’i Kaioneta Kitiona, confirmed the shooting, saying the accused man faces a murder charge.
