Mother needs help with back to school costs

They say education is the key to success.

But nothing can be accomplished without money.

With school to start soon, Evo Maiki, is seeking help for her two children.

The 31-year-old from the village of Samatau stated that her children will need school uniforms, stationeries and school fees for her youngest daughter who will be registered into kindergarten this year.

Mrs. Maiki added she has to pay $60 every term for her youngest child which totals up to $240 at the end of the year.

And like any mother, she wants her children to have a better life which is the driving force behind search for help.

She says only her husband works, but the money they receive every fortnight is not enough to support their children’s education.

“My husband fixes the road for a living and he gets paid every fortnight not weekly. So he earns more than a $150 when he gets paid,” she said.

Her daily struggles are attributed to the increasing cost of living and the commitments which they are tied to.

“If we don’t have a funeral or something that has to do with church, then we would have enough and we could budget that money to make it to the next pay day.

“Everything that makes this earth move and function is founded on money, but the problem is that not everyone has money, the prices of products have become unaffordable.”

Mrs. Maiki shared they mostly spend their money on their family commitments; they do not spend as much money on their children as much as they do with their families.

Anyone who can help, please contact Mrs. Maiki’s on 7221686.
