He is a new Member of Parliament and now he is a new Cabinet Minister.

Lawyer Fa’aolesa Katopau Ainu’u was among the new faces in Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi’s Cabinet line up, announced yesterday.

He is the new Minister for the Ministry of Justice and Courts Administration.

The Member of Parliament for Vaimauga West is the first M.P from the constituency to be a Cabinet Minister after a long time.

And for that, Fa’aolesa couldn’t be happier.

“First and foremost, I am thankful to God for bringing me here,” he said. “I owe everything to Him.”

Secondly, Fa’aolesa acknowledged the support and prayers of his constituents, families and friends.

He also extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Tuilaepa for selecting him as a Cabinet Minister.

“I want to thank the Prime Minister for giving me his trust to lead the Ministry,” he said.

“I am very honoured and privileged to be given this opportunity to contribute to our country.”

He said it was unexpected.

“Nobody expected this,” he said.

“It was really up to the Prime Minister to decide who will be in office for the next five years. But I am grateful and very humbled.”

Fa’aolesa is a lawyer by profession.

The 52-year-old is married to Diana Ainu’u and they have three children.
