Alleged A.T.M. thieves called in District Court

The two Chinese men accused of stealing more than $10,000 from an Automatic Teller Machines were called in the District Court on Monday.

Zhong Shuiming and Yang Quigreen are facing 16 charges of theft. They are represented by lawyer, Alex Su’a.  

The pair are being charged per transaction where they allegedly stole money.

National Prosecution Office lawyer, Iliganoa Atoa is the prosecutor.

The matter was initially called in the Supreme Court but it was later referred to the District Court where theft is under the Court’s jurisdiction. 

Before District Court Judge, Fepuleai Ameperosa Roma, the matter was scheduled for hearing yesterday. However, Fepuleai said the Court was not available as it was engaged in other matters. 

Su’a then told the Court he had just received several footages from the prosecution on Friday last week.  He requested two days to look at it and an adjournment for hearing. 

The Judge noted that both the defendants and the prosecutor whom have eight witnesses are ready to proceed. 

He then adjourned the matter until 6th March, 2017 for hearing. 

The accused remain on bail with conditions to sign at the Police headquarter every Monday and Friday.
