Police says thank you for gun report

Police Spokesperson, Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona, has thanked members of the public for their continuous support. 

The acknowledgement was offered after as a member of the public spotted and reported a vehicle carrying a pistol. 

Maota said the information given to the Ministry of Police enabled them to locate the vehicle and confiscate the gun.

“The gun was found in a vehicle on the 7th July 2016 around 7:30 when police found the vehicle,” he said. 

Police arrested and charged a 38-year-old male for possession of an unlawful weapon. 

The accused will appear on the 19th July 2016 in the District Court for mention. 

“I take this opportunity, on behalf of the Minister, Commissioner and the Ministry to acknowledge the great support of members of the public because this would not have been found if it wasn’t the support from the public.”
