The driver of a vehicle who crashed yesterday afternoon at Lalovaea, vanished after he drove into a fence next to the Samoa Seventh Day Adventist School gates.

When the Samoa Observer arrived at the scene, police officers had surrounded the area.

There were small, broken bottles of Vailima and another police officer uplifted half a joint of marijuana from the vehicle.

According to an eyewitness who did not wish to be named, the vehicle was traveling from east heading west when it veered off the road.

“It was lucky no one was walking on the side of the road when it crashed because the accident happened so fast.

“The car was speeding up the road from the outside lane and when he tried to move to the inner lane, that’s when he slipped sideways.”

There were two people in the vehicle when it crashed.

“Police have already taken the passenger to the hospital because he was injured but he’s not in a critical condition but the driver left before police arrived.”

The Ministry of Police was contacted for a comment yesterday, but nobody was available.
