The Marist International Sports Week is upon us.

Yesterday, the Club received another crucial financial injection.

This time, Valima Breweries officially handed over its cash contribution of $50,000 as the naming rights sponsor of the Vailima Marist International Sevens.

The cheque was presented by Vailima Representative, Seteuati Mau.

“We’re excited for this week we’re ready for this week,” he said.

“This morning, we are very happy to say that this is our first big event this year and especially with Marist.  It’s all for the love and passion for sports in our country and we know that Vailima is at the forefront for sports.

“Vailima is proud to sponsor the sports development.

“With our grassroots its good for our kids to get involved with big international names like Zac Gilford. This is one time off they get this experience on the field and Vailima is proud to help with this, not only Sevens but all sports.”

Present to receive the check on behalf of the Marist Sports Committee was Robert  Johnston.

“On behalf of the president and Marist St. Josephs Sports Club, we would like to thank Vailima Breweries for their continuous support Marist Sevens and Marist Sports Week,” he said.

“$50,000 is a lot of money, but we at Marist realize that to a lot of our youth and our people, sports is a pathway to  inspire not only our developing sports people but in executive roles, manager and sports people.

“These funds will go towards helping the youth and inspiring them to become sports people and develop them through our Marist Sports Week.”

Vailima Breweries has partnered with the Marist Sports Committee going on 5 years now.  And with the 30th year coming up, it’s only going to get bigger and better.
