The suspended Director of the National Prosecution Office (N.P.O), Mauga Precious Chang, has had one more charge added to the charges she is facing in the District Court.

Having already pleaded not guilty to charges of negligent driving causing injury and dangerous driving before Judge VaepuleVaemoaVaai in the District Court, the prosecution revealed an additional charge yesterday when the matter was called.

Prosecutor and New Zealand-based lawyer, Satiu Simativa Perese, informed the Court that Mauga also faces a charge of failing to stop to ascertain, under section 44(1)(4) of the Road Traffic Act.

Mauga was not present in Court.

But her lawyer and former Attorney General, Aumua Ming Leung Wai was there.

He confirmed that the charges against his client had been served to him on Thursday and she has already been informed. He entered a not guilty plea to all the charges.

Aumua also said that Aaron Berkins QC from New Zealand would be their leading counsel for the trial, which has been set for 28 and 29 November 2016.

Satiu said the prosecution will be calling seven witnesses.
