A lot of changes in Samoa

Meet Pastor Paulo Apulu.

Aged 42, Pastor Paulo is looking after the Assembly of God’s congregation at Lepale.

He believes that Samoa is not the same compared to what it was like 15 years ago.

Asked about how life is in general in Samoa, and he said everything is great.

“All is well in Samoa,” he tells the Village Voice.

“A lot of people say that the cost of living is expensive and I can’t control what people think, because we are all entitled to our own opinions.

“We also have different views and opinions. But the way I see it, this is just natural because we are all moving forward.

“In order for our country to develop and move forward and to be aligned with the other countries, changes need to be made.

“A lot of people also complain about the government and say that we have to change, but I think that even if we change it, the prices will still go up.

“Like I mentioned earlier, a lot has changed, but it is only because we are moving forward. We will not stay at the same place forever.”

Moreover, he said that the only thing we can do about it is to adapt to the new changes and find ways to help out with the expensive cost of living.

“We all need to adapt to the changes we have in our societies nowadays. We are all different, and we all work in different areas as well.

“But the main thing is to work hard and rely on God to provide for us.

“Nothing is easy in this life. We all struggle sometimes and we all have our bad days. But if we complain and do nothing, then we will continue to suffer.”

Lastly, Pastor Paulo commended the government’s efforts with all the new developments in Samoa.

“To me, all the developments are for the betterment of our country.

“We have nice roads now, better school buildings, hospitals, airports and other things.

“We are all moving forward and all the developments we have now are useful for the people of our country.”
