One of the fastest growing businesses in Samoa, Coin Save continues to expand.

This time, the franchise is making progress in its plan to open a factory to manufacture cigarettes locally.

In a telephone interview with the Samoa Observer yesterday, Coin Save Owner, Tu’itu’ioaiga Teeking Weng confirmed the plan.

He said the factory, which is stationed at Falelauniu, will take a little longer until it can open.

“We are waiting for all the okay then we (can) open,” said Tu’itu’ioaiga.

“Not yet. We need a longer time to build warehouse.”

Asked if the business had a license to manufacture cigarettes locally, he said yes.

The Chinese owner declined to discuss how the company would do this.  However, a staff member who is not authorised to speak to the media said the idea is using the local cigarette plant (tapa’a Samoa) to manufacture the product.

Coin Save is also planning to open a restaurant, called K.M.C.

Located in the S.N.P.F. Plaza next to Coin Save, Tu’itu’ioaiga said the restaurant will open its doors in two months.

“It has no meaning it’s just easier for customers to remember,” said the owner when asked about what K.M.C. stands for.

“But my staff (suggested) it can stand for Kentucky Master Chicken…it doesn’t really have a meaning, it’s easier to remember.”

The Coin Save owner added the restaurant is looking into selling taro and tuna, something that his staff members like to eat.

He maintained that all plans for the businesses would be revealed when it is officially opened.
