A Vailoa resident remains unhappy about the attitude of a church next to her home. 

Sosefina Kleis Ryan has publically questioned the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints at Vailoa over the noises they make.

But the 70-year-old said that since she spoke out publically, it seems things have gotten worse. 

 “You know they’re starting to do it again,” she said. 

 “The only day that they don’t do anything is Monday and that’s the only peaceful day I get. 

She said the church has been at it with their noisy activities every week and she let it go, trying not to think about it but it was Thursday last week that the noise got worse. 

“The noise that came from the chapel was louder than the nightclubs, so I called the police and they came. 

“The police have been good because they came straight away and they went and told them to lower the noise because it was around eight at the time, where everyone was doing faigalotu. 

“But when the police went back, the music went up again. It was louder than before and the children started screaming and they continued with this on the road.”

Ms. Ryan said they might have done this because they were unhappy about her calling the Police.

“Another thing that annoys me is their strong lights (sulu) when they play their games at night time. 

“We can’t sit on our patio and enjoy ourselves because our eyes are hurt from the lights. 

“And you know everyone on Sunday after church, they go straight home but these people, half past 12 and they are still there roaming around with their children running around. They can’t control their kids.” 

Ms. Ryan said she is tired of what is happening. This is why she has decided to speak up publically about the matter.

 “The other day, I heard them laughing out loud so I went there and asked them if they had any brains because it has been the whole day since they been screaming and laughing like that.” 

Since raising the matter publically, Ms. Ryan said they have not heard from the church.

 “You know if they had come here and asked me about how to resolve this issue, I would just say no more functions like these, just church for Sunday. 

“But they haven’t asked me yet. It’s all just talks to them.” 

Ms. Ryan said she just wants to resolve this issue. 

“People are always saying things but they don’t know anything because they don’t live here. I’m the one who stays here, facing their temple every day. I don’t want people to think I’m making this up.” 

Attempts to get a comment from the L.D.S church was unsuccessful.
