Every day there is a challenge.

For Muliupu Tua, his problems are compounded by not having a job.

To make up for not having a job, 26-year-old from Fasitoo-Tai does his best with daily chores and their plantation.

“My father is the only one that works within my family and since he works for the government so he gets paid every fortnight,” he said.

“While we wait for him to get paid, we sell what I could find within our plantation just to earn money to make it through to the next day.

“My parents have raised me from the minute I first opened my eyes and now that they are getting old, I need to take care of them. I have three siblings and they are all living with their spouses, it’s just me at home with my parents.”

Mr. Tua stated that it does not matter what ever job opportunity there is he will thankfully accept anything so he can provide for his parents. He promises to work hard and learn fast.

“Any job is good enough as long as I could work to earn a living and share the burden with my father in terms of the bills,” he added.

The cost of living nowadays is very expensive, he said.

Everything needed within their household revolves around money such as paying for the water bill and the food.

One of his biggest hopes is to be able to repay the love and care he received from his parents.

“I want to take care of them, be able to provide for them too,” he said.

“Life is reciprocal. What we do to others will be done unto us and I will never want to have an experience of regret when my parents are gone. It is better to work while I am still strong so I could look after them just like how they did with me.”
