Longserving S.I.F.A C.E.O passes away

The Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of the Samoa International Finance Agency (S.I.F.A), Alosamoa Erna Vaai-Aiono, has passed away in New Zealand.

She was 53-years-old.

A family member of Alosamoa, who spoke to the Samoa Observer on condition of anonymity, confirmed her passing.

 “She passed away yesterday (Tuesday) in New Zealand,” he said.

“She has been sick for a very long time. She had been in New Zealand for cancer treatment and her Maker has finally called her home.”

The family member said her children and other family members are with her body in New Zealand.  Plans are being made for her final services.

 “That is all the information I can give you at the moment. The news is obviously very sad for our family. We will miss Erna greatly.”

Alosamoa is one of the government’s longest serving C.E.Os. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in History and Political Studies as well as a Bachelor of Laws Degree. 

She has been admitted as a Solicitor of the High Courts of Samoa and New Zealand.

Her employment background in Government started as a State Solicitor in 1989 at the Attorney General’s Office.

She was then appointed as Assistant Registrar of International and Foreign Companies with the Central Bank of Samoa, before moving on to the Ministry of Finance and then S.I.F.A. 

Alosamoa has represented Samoa in many seminars, workshops and training programmes. 

She is also involved in many local and international organizations and committees. She is the mother of five children.
