Pitolau new Chief Executive Pacific Water Association

The Pacific Water and Wastewater Association has a new Chief Executive Officer.

She is Pitolau Lusia Sefo-Leau, the former C.E.O of Samoa’s Ministry of Revenue. Her appointment was confirmed by the Association’s Chair, Opetaia Ravai, in a statement.

“Ms Sefo-Leau brings to the organisation an extensive range and depth of knowledge and experience of the public sector having served the Samoa Government for 33 years from 1982 to 2015, including three years in 1997-2000 as a Director’s Advisor with the Asian Development Bank,” he said. 

“During this period, she held senior leadership roles for 25 years and led major institutional and capacity building reforms and projects including some government-wide programmes.”   

Her most recent previous two appointments were as the C.E.O for the Ministry for Revenue and as a Deputy C.E.O for the Ministry of Finance.

 She has served on numerous Boards of S.O.Es and Government Reform Taskforces in Samoa, as well as serving as a member of regional and international Steering Committees and Management Boards such as the Oceania Customs Organisation, the Pacific Islands Tax Administrators Association, and the O.E.C.D Peer Review Group for Transparency in Tax Information Exchange, among others.

“The P.W.W.A is privileged to have a leader of Ms Sefo-Leau’s caliber join the organization as its first C.E.O, as it embarks on a new phase of establishing the organization as a permanent regional body advocating for its members as the ‘voice for water’ in the Pacific; Institutional strengthening, capacity development and regional integration, in order to deliver the expectation of its membership and work towards improved access to water and sanitation for Pacific peoples.”

The Pacific Water and Wastewater Association (P.W.W.A) was established in 1994 operating in the water and wastewater sectors. Its mission is the delivery of quality water related services that enhance the wellbeing of people throughout the Pacific Island region.

P.W.W.A membership currently comprises of various Pacific water stakeholders including 28 Pacific Island water and wastewater utilities across 22 countries and component states, international water authorities and associations, private sector equipment and service supply companies, contractors, consultants and individuals.
