One of the two suspects responsible for the murder of a 34-year-old father of Vaimea has pleaded not guilty to the charge against him.

The accused Max Alefosio appeared together with his co-defendant, PJ Tupuola Puni yesterday before his Honour Chief Justice Patu Tiava’asue Falefatu Sapolu on one charge of murder against each of them.

Mr Alefosio was represented by lawyer Leiataualesa Jerry Brunt and entered a not guilty plea to the charge against him.

The second defendant Puni did not enter a plea but his matter was further adjourned to next week for legal counsel to represent him in court due to the seriousness of the charges against him.

This matter is being adjourned to Monday for a hearing date to be set.

The incident occurred around 1:30pm Saturday night 23rd July 2016 at Vaimea.

The deceased did not make it to the hospital.

He died along the way due to the seriousness of the injuries on his face.
