Official in Court for drink driving

The Samoa Ports Authority Assistant Chief Executive Officer, Tafaigata Toilolo Mapu, has been charged with refused to take a Breathalyzer test.


He allegedly committed the offence in a government-owned vehicle and is scheduled to appear in Court on November 16. 

According to the charge document, Toilolo refused to take a Breathalyzer test when he was asked by a law enforcement officer on August 11, 2018 to take the test.

He was driving a Toyota Hilux vehicle with the registration number SPA03 at the time of the alleged offence. 

According to the Road Traffic Ordinance Act Section 40 Subsection (5), a person who is convicted of the offense of drunk driving is liable to a jail term not exceeding five years or a fine not exceeding 50 penalty units.
