BlueSky Samoa has issued a warning to its customers in relation to “spam” issues.

The warning came through a text message titled “service message.”

It said that BlueSky customers in New Zealand, Australia and Fiji have recently been hit with spam via international missed calls, which they are tempted to call back.

“We care and want to protect our customers so please be warned,” said the text from BlueSky Samoa.

The text was sent at 12:51pm yesterday.

They also warned its customers not to answer or return the call.

“Don't answer or call back any missed calls from any unknown international number and protect your personal information online. For further queries, please call 121 or 6712.”

The Samoa Observer called 121 for an explanation. The operator explained they are concerned about the impact if their customers relay any messages such as personal account numbers and other important accounts.

“Just don’t answer if you see that you’ve never received a call from that number before."

“And if you do answer, do not give out any contacts,” said the operator."

Emails to BlueSky Samoa for further information on the “spam” alert have not been answered as of press time.
