The stage is set for three Samoan fashion designers to showcase their unique talent among other well-renowned designers from around the Pacific in Australia this weekend.

Cecilia’s Fashion House, Cecilia Keil; Pele Creations, Natalya Ah-Him and D.M.F’s, Dane Mulinu’u Fabricius are set to showcase their designs as part of the Pacific International Runway.

Cecilia Keil said she was honoured to be showing alongside Pele Creation, D.M.F and other Pacific designers at this international fashion show.

“It’s always a great honour to represent Samoa at an international show,” she said.

“This year being at the show with Natalya and Dane is really special and will highlight Samoa to an international audience what Samoa has to offer.

“Being based in the Pacific Islands it can be hard to raise awareness of your brand and designs internationally. It’s vital for designers to have shows like Pacific International Runway to raise awareness of the creativity and talents of Pacific Island designers to an international market.”

Last year’s Pacific International Runway was a resounding success proving there is an interest from the Australian market.

Pacific Trade Invest (P.T.I.) Australia is a major sponsor of the show. Caleb Jarvis, Trade & Investment Commissioner, PTI Australia said that that show is an important vehicle putting a spotlight on Pacific Island design.

“Creative industries are important to the cultural fabric of the Pacific Islands. In the highly competitive fashion industry it can be difficult for designers and artists based in the Pacific to reach a global market.

“We see events such as the Pacific International Runway providing an important platform to showcase the talent of Pacific Islanders to an international market connecting them to international buyers.”

The Pacific International Runway will take place today at the iconic The Star Sydney, Australia.
