The Ministry of Police Media officer Maotaoalii Kaioneta Kitiona, said their special Operation Riots will continue to patrol the market.

The tough message to students is that fighting will simply not be tolerated, second chances will not be offered for offenders and the police need to be left to uphold the law without interference.

The Tactical Operation Squad, carrying out this operation has reiterated there will be no more chances for the school students.

“All I can say to the students who start these fights is, keep on doing it and the police will do their job according to the law,” said Maotaoali’i.

Maotaoali said police will not be giving any more chances to any students arrested for fighting in town.

He is also asking the parents, to let the police do their job because in the past, the parents have apologised for the students and asked for a second chance for them. There will be no second chances, he said.

Police are also looking at the use of social media because this is the core cause of these disputes especially between the students.

Maota he said they will not stop this operation which he believes could flare up again , even though schools will be on a break.

In a step to underscore to offending students the seriousness of their behavior, the Commissioner of Police, Egon Keil visited Don Bosco, Avele and Chanel Colleges on Wednesday.

He  spoke to the students about the next actions that police will be taking if  fighting occurs again.

He also explained to them that there will be no more chances for them if they are caught fighting.

The Ministry will now be working together with members of the public to put a stop to these school brawls. They will also be working together with the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture and the different schools to set up a School Network Strategy to help provide background information about any new student in a school.

Maota said this will help them find out information as to why the student left his or her previous school.
