Richard Parker kicks off 2018 with a bang

Despite the unforgiving rain on Friday night, nothing could dampen the feel-good vibes enjoyed by a huge crowd at Taumeasina Island Resort.

The man they came to see in action was musician, Richard Parker, in concert.

The crowd saw people of all ages come together for a great night of fun, awesome music and dancing.

The moment Richard walked out onto the stage in his Admiral style outfit, the crowd went wild and the party began.

With the drinks flowing and the music pumping, some couldn’t even help themselves but use the dance floor and out on the surrounding grass area.

Also in attendance was Prime Minister, Tuilaepa Sa’ilele Malielegaoi, who joined in on the fun with his wife, Gillian Malielegaoi.

Richard Parker’s concert, and Samoa’s first major concert/event this year, was sponsored by Taumeasina, Bluesky Samoa and Vailima Breweries.

Tickets were sold for $60 per person.

According to Laumua Luafalealo, one of Richard’s biggest fans who attended the concert, being able to witness him sing live was a great experience for her.

“Tonight is just amazing,” she said.

“It’s really great for me because I get to see a great Samoan singer perform right in front of my eyes and this is also my first time at Taumeasina so that’s another great added bonus.

“The vibe tonight is just amazing. I don’t know how to explain it but for me, his songs kind of give me hope… It sounds funny but that’s the best I can describe it.

“Thank you so much Richard for performing for us, my family and I love you.”

Another fan and Magik FM Radio announcer, Roa Pesamino, couldn’t agree more.

“I am a huge fan of his,” she began.

“I actually interviewed him three times this week for Magic F.M. and he’s amazing.

“This is a really good crowd and I am just waiting for the Vailima to hit a little harder and I think with the rain finally letting up now, there will be a lot more dancing out here on the grass. This is just a whole lot of fun.

“Richard, thank you for tonight… I owe you one, this is Roa from Magic.”

In an earlier interview with Richard, he explained that his selection of songs would be ones that people will love.

“I have selected some of the songs from my first album to the last album,” he said.

“The songs I will select are songs that people want. Sometimes I ask people what songs they prefer me to sing and when they give me a song I will get the band to practice it.

“Hopefully all the songs I will perform this Saturday will be songs that people will like.”

And judging from the reaction of the crowd, he did sure deliver.
