What women do best men can do also

Last Saturday was a tournament like no other for Netball Samoa. 

With Bluesky’s support, Netball Samoa hosted a first time all-day-Men’s Tournament to celebrate the invaluable contribution of our men to this female dominated sport. 

“Men are a crucial part of our coaching staff and also make up a big number of our mixed teams in Netball,” said Rosemarie Esera, C.E.O. Netball Samoa. 

“This was our way of saying thank you and also trialling an all day tournament for the first time.”

There were five teams who registered including an overseas team which travelled from Sydney, New South Wales to participate. 

The Netball Samoa N.S.W. team was the toughest contenders of the competition challenging the local teams to play their very best. 

N.S.W. Netball Samoa came away winners of the cup and competition with Marist Saints coming 2nd and top ranked for the local teams. 

A.C.P. K.O.P.S. won 3rd overall winner and N.U.S. Oriana placed 4th. 

It was an intense day of netball with a dose of family fun and entertainment. 

Bluesky hosted with jumping castles, face painting, snow cones and prizes. 

Netball Samoa has some exciting plans ahead with an outreach programme starting in Savai’i this coming weekend. 

The National Samoa netball team are also hosting a training camp in Wellington on the 11st Nov- 18th Nov.  

There will be 25 players and four coaching management staff attending.  At the end of the camp a team of 12 players will be selected for the Scotland/Wales Tour on the 26th Nov - 9th

Dec 2017.

The National team will play two test matches in Scotland and Wales. 

“This is an exciting way to end the year and we have a full plan of activity coming for 2018.”
