Tragedy struck a family at Tufutafoe in Savai’i last week.

It happened when a 38-year-old family member went out fishing and never returned home alive.

Instead, he was found in the early hours of the next day, dead.

This was confirmed by the Police Spokesperson, Superintendent Auapaau Logotino Filipo.

He said the Police have launched a full investigation to determine what happened.

From early reports, however, he said the man appears to have drowned after he lost contact with two other men he had gone with.

The Superintendent added that they want to make sure they are certain about the cause of death which is why they will continue with their investigation.

It was not possible to get a comment from the family yesterday.
